I started having a problem recently where the editor ‘refreshes’ every couple of seconds. This usually while I’m actively typing. A message comes up that says “processing”, and nothing happens for half-a-second. The problem is that when this happens, anything typed during that half second doesn’t get inserted. Worse yet, often the keys that are typed during ‘processing’ get inserted after the editor has refreshed, and it goes to the beginning of the first paragraph. An example of this would be where I tried to add, “No, I never talk to myself.” It turned out like this:
erDo you talk to yourself sometimes? No, I talk toself
(‘nev’ completely gone, while ‘er’ inserted at the beginning. Then ‘my’ of ‘myself’ is gone.)
Go through everything on the Troubleshooting Checklist – especially #2 add-ons. That “Processing” message shows up whenever an action is taking longer than Anki expects, but there aren’t very many actions the app itself would be running while you’re editing a field. An add-on is the likely cause of this.
Thanks for the suggestion. It was probably an add-on, but I’m not absolutely certain. I disabled all addons, and the problem went away. I then re-enabled half, and no problem. I then tried the other half, still no problem. So, I re-enabled all the addons that I had before this issue, and things still work OK. In fact, other issues I had started to have also now seem to have resolved themselves.
