Discourse Reactions

:sparkles: Reactions is available on all hosting plans.

allows users to React to a post from a choice of emojis, rather than only the Like heart. The available emoji selection can be set from the admin settings

Discourse-reactions is a plugin that allows user to add their reactions to the post. This plugin can engage more audiences to the post. Users who may not have previously wanted to Like your content are now able to send more specific signals about how your content makes them feel. Users who may not have wanted to use their phones to post can now use them to “react” much easier.

Reactions can be different on each website as we have an amazing feature where site admin can set their list of emojis which can be used as reactions.

To customize the reactions use the site setting discourse_reactions_enabled_reactions and define emojis you want as reactions separated by | eg: open_mouth|cry|angry

This plugin will work as an add-on to the likes feature, anytime you want to remove the plugin, all likes will be preserved.

I’m not sure the introduction of negative reactions would be a positive change.

In Ankiweb Add-ons and Shared decks, the down vote indicates that it does not work or that there is some problem that needs to be addressed. In the case of this forum, perhaps it would indicate an answer is incorrect or question or answer is disrespectful.

But there is sometimes down voting by groups, so it may hinder free discussion. For example, a few years ago Anking reported they constantly received a large number of down votes on Reddit.

Then we won’t add negative emojis

This plugin is not supposed to be like a :+1: :-1: system

Discord Emotes

chief kiss and discourse icon are imported, so maybe this is possible?

 :tada: :rocket: :+1:  :exploding_head:
:star_struck: :100: :eyes: :AnkiPog: (Position A1 from Discord) :AnkiMagenta: (B1) :Anki: (B2): :AnkiWeb: (C2; or :dae:)

The 3 most popular emojis will be shown

I’ve used reactions on GitHub, and found the eyes/tada useful at times, but this is not GitHub. You’ve explained the feature exists, and that it lets us customize the reactions that are displayed, but you haven’t made a case for why we’d want that. What value will it bring, and considering a lot of people posting here are new to the forums, is it worth that extra complexity?

Community engagement!

 don’t convey the exact feelings of user, such as beta announcement, add-on release(:tada: :eyes: :rocket: :star_struck: ), or a well thought post (:100: )

Forum is closer of a social media (such as Reddit or Discord) than GitHub, so having more options for reactions is nice

We can discuss on which emotes we can add (max 14), above are just personal recommendations, which can be changed such as Discord emotes
