Hi. I’m looking to create multiple cards that have the same answer on a single note.
For example, if I want to learn all of the countries and their continent, I would want to have a single card for all of the European countries, where the front of the card of the country name and the back of the card is “Europe”.
So when making the note/cards, I would put all of the countries on the front within some syntax and a separate card would be created for each country.
Example of what the syntax might look like:
What continent is {{x1::Germany::Italy::France}} in?
Does such a note type exist? (Sorry, it is difficult to search for such a nuanced thing.)
I get the following error when trying to save the Back Template with the syntax you provided:
Card template 1 in note type ‘Cloze copy’ has a problem.
Expected to find ‘{{cloze:Text}}’ or similar on the front and back of the card template.
I can use the following Back Template as a workaround:
{{cloze:Text}}
<hr>
{{Back Extra}}
With the above Back Template only the cloze text will be shown on the back, which of course isn’t ideal. But I can live with it if there’s no other way.
I also tried adding both {{FrontSide}} and {{cloze:Text}} to the Back Template. As you probably know, this makes the words outside of the cloze to be duplicated.
What continent is [France] in? What continent is in?
Europe
Is there a more elegant workaround or way to bypass that error message? Perhaps there is a way to hide the content in the {{cloze:Text}} field from being displayed?
Lastly, just so you know what I did, I made a new note type using the “Manage Note Types” option under “Tools”. The new note type was a clone of the cloze note type, which I named ‘Cloze copy’. Then when making a card with this type, I selected “Card” in the editor and edited the Back Template.
Thank you for the mention. Although I think using hints for storing the data looks just as good. From the practical standpoint, the two methods don’t differ that much in this case.
