So, today I added about 100 cloze deletions in a single note (I like to use my anki notes as class notations as well as flashcards), but, for some reason, for which I have no idea why, only 17 cards were created:
It worked fine for the first 16 cards, but after that only cards 29 and 43 were added. I’ve had the same problem about a week ago with another note, and all I could do to fix it was to manually delete all cloze deletions and redo them. But I’d like to try an easier fix for this, if anyone has a clue of what to do. Cloze deletion was working perfectly before those two instances.
Btw, I use the Enhanced Cloze v2.1 add-on.
I appreciate the atention so far and any help I get.
Edit: Some of the things I’ve tried so far that didn’t work: changing the note types to standard cloze, copying and readding the same note with the same formatting.
I can’t speak to how cloze works with that add-on, but when this happens with native Anki cloze types, it’s often because of a “typo” in the cloze syntax. Sometimes that can be caused by HTML that interrupts the cloze syntax, so it is worth checking the HTML view of the field.
[Also: When you can, please try to avoid posting medical photos in your screenshots, unless absolutely necessary to the question you’re asking. They make it much harder for us non-med-school folks to look closely at your images . I can’t say for sure that’s a medical photo (and I’m not going to examine it enough to find out), so if I’m mistaken, this can be taken as just general advice. ]
Thanks! There are no typos in any of the clozes though. But how can I check and possibly correct this HTML thing? I don’t know anything about programming, so…
Btw, I tried to avoid posting a medical picture, but I thought that one in particular wouldn’t really bother anyone, but sorry for that.
You can check the HTML view by clicking the < > above the field. With fields this long, it might be hard to find, but you’d be looking for places where a lot of <html things> show up before/after/between the essential pieces of a cloze marker {{c##::...}}.
You can start by focusing on the areas before/within/after the ones that “disappear” from the sequence – 17, 30, 44 – although it’s probably interesting to see what happens before 29 and 43 too, since it seems like something is reset before them that lets them appear.
[And don’t worry too much about the photo. It’s small, so I was able to cover it up with my hand pretty well! ]
Okay, so I actually found a solution to this, I think.
So, as I’ve said, my cards were fine, until I created cloze number 17, and I think the reason for that is because I manually changed the cloze notation of that card (which was another card after 17) to 17, before I even added the note. All I did to fix it was: 1) I manually edited the 17 out of cloze 17 and synced anki, which left me with "{{c::card}}, 2) after that, I just manually edited the card adding the 17 again, back to how it was created as "{{c17::card}}. For some weird reason, both card 17 and all of the remaining uncreated clozes were added as individual cards in my deck.
Yeah, actually, now the cards do work fine. But anki’s empty cards tool detects all cards past 17 as empty, even though they are working as intended and are not empty. Does anyone know what the duck is going on?
Did you try deleting and the cards got deleted or otherwise how do you know it’s the same cards that are working? Possible the previous operations left some empty cards from your deck.
Sorry, I don’t understand you. I tried deleting the cards using the empty cards tool, and I it did was restore my cards to how they were: only the first 16 cards were showing up.
