I’ve installed macOS 27 throughout the night. Today I wanted to start learning and Anki keeps crashing on startup. I’ve tried restarting my Mac to no avail. I sadly also don’t think, that I’ve synced my cards with Anki web, except it does that automatically, so I’m too afraid to uninstall Anki. Can anybody help fixing this problem, please?
Also this is, what the Terminal says, when I try to start Anki:
Yes, desktop Anki auto-syncs on open/close by default. But you have to create an account and set up syncing first. If you haven’t done that, your collection is only on your device.
The first thing you can do is go find the Anki2 folder – Managing Files - Anki Manual – where your collection is stored in a completely separate location from where the app is installed. There’s no reason that uninstalling desktop Anki would touch that folder, but you can also make a copy of it and store it somewhere else, so you’ll know for sure it is protected.
Then go through the Troubleshooting Checklist – try everything, even the things you think aren’t relevant.
If it’s not better after that – do you know what version of Anki you have installed?
