Bug: can't find <br>

Hi,

there seems to be a bug where I can’t just find nor find and replace <br> from all notes containing it at once. It only works for a single card at a time. So I can’t highlight all cards and find and replace <br> it will somehow just update one card at the time, the one I highlighted at the moment. No Idea what is going on and why this could be. Below a screenshot of the card and <br> I have several like these. I can’t even find all cards with <br> at once maybe it’s something with the line break within html. I used the batch edit addon to insert “saf” to the back and selected “insert as html” so i could later replace the <br>.

Also I wasn’t sure where to put this topic so I chose help.

Click on the “notes” button to make it “cards”. It should work then.

Just tried didn’t work.

browsing for
front:*<br* front:sc*

it finds the cards but not

front:*<br>* front:sc*

and find and replace neither “<br” nor <br> works.

I know it works for me but maybe I do not understand what you’re trying to achive. Can you post here the following things please?

  1. An example of the text inside your field (as html)
  2. An example of the text you want to find (as text)

I can try it then and report back. Also, please put them into a code block like this:

You need to edit all of your prior messages to put the HTML in `code blocks` – because it’s being parsed by the forum and making it very difficult to understand what you’re saying works and what you’re saying doesn’t work.

I search like this:

"Text (Vorderseite):*<br>*"

because my field is not called “Front” like yours:

And I do get the desired result / find that card.
Edit: The " are important, so the *<br>* part needs to be inside ".

Then I find and replace like this:

(Please note my html view is at the top, the bottom has the “normal” view.)

You also said this:

I did the same as above and only changed one thing: I selected more than one card. It works fine for me. Also: I was in the “cards” view (the button I asked you about earlier).

If this doesn’t work for you, could you elaborate a little bit more please?

Ah I found a way around. Instead of finding and replacing <br> i just found and replaced <br and > separately which didn’t work in the notes view but now in cards view it worked like you said. Dankeschön :yum:
