I have tried to contact the author but so far there seems to be no reply. Perhaps the database contains all the user names and passwords, so it may be difficult to take over due to security issues.

I was able to contact the author, unfortunately, it seems that data cannot be taken over because it would violate the policy, so resets of user data will be inevitable.
The good news is that I found out the Leaderboard server does not require money to maintain, this has made my development much less difficult.
For now there are 4 broken add-ons using the server, I think all of these can be repaired in the future.

Addon goes offline on 14.06 so maybe you could then take over smoothly from there.

The original Leaderboard page on AnkiWeb seems to have been removed, so I have created a Placeholder.
It is not yet available, but if you download the Placeholder you will be notified when my development is complete.

I complete the development and uploaded it to AnkiWeb.
It is working fine on my device, but I have not yet tested all the features, so If you have any problems please feel free to contact me.

@Shigeyuki So 6 months after this and I wanted to say that the work that you have put into this addon is amazing. I was wonderinng if you could maybe add something add like a tooltip or a counter which updates as you are inside the reviewer.
There are about 2500 active users (and rising!) at any given time and it would be nice to have this feature.
Also, it would be nice to know the local time for each user to know how to compare

Are there any terms of service that include within the addon? This must be questionable if we can’t delete the data within their servers

If somebody wants to continue this project, they would have to host the API themselves and start with a new database. In the privacy policy, I stated that I wouldn’t share personal data with third-parties, so I can’t and won’t give anyone access to the database. All data will be deleted on the 14th (Jun).

Thank you, @Shigeyuki, for implementing the changes to the add-on. I think you may as well display the local time in the tooltip for each user upon hovering with the mouse pointer to know what the local time for that user is.
Another idea: Maybe add as well the ability to show users by the same or a range of local times (GMT+1,2,3,4,…) or GMT +1–3, or GMT +2 to +5

Thanks! I will add various new functions and improvements later.
I too think such a real time sync function would be useful and am already working on such a thing, but these functions will increase the load on the server so I need to implement them carefully. So far the function of the profile icon seems to have worked fine.
For now I use the privacy policy as it was written by the original author, technically when a user deletes their account the data on the server is also deleted: Privacy Policy of Anki Leaderboard
There is a system for users to report cheats and annoying users and ban them (Double click on the user name to see the report button), but basically you can just Hide.
I think I will change this policy later, maybe some users would prefer to be able to transfer their data rather than have it completely deleted.
I wanted that too but tedious so I postponed it, maybe I will incorporate it next time.
That is an interesting idea so I will look into it.
