Anki crashes when copying and pasting text containing <code> tags

System: Ubuntu
Anki Version: Anki 2.1.15 (442df9d6) Python 3.12.3 Qt 5.15.13 PyQt 5.15.10
Add-ons: None

Steps to reproduce:

  • add a new card
  • click on the ‘front’ field
  • edit the html of the field and enter the text <code>test</code>
  • click ‘close’ to go back to the regular editor
  • try to copy the contents of the ‘front’ field and paste into the ‘back’ field

What happens: Anki freezes at the moment that I attempt to copy the text

This version is very old. Can you reproduce it with the latest version? If not, then the issue is already fixed.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll try installing a newer version and attempt to re-produce. I installed Anki through apt, which is probably why it’s such an old version.

I upgraded to the latest version and wasn’t able to re-produce the issue. Thanks for the help!
