Qt5 is much faster and yes, the problem get worst with bigger images.

Are you able to capture the slow rendering in a short video so I can get a feel for it? Does fiddling with the graphics settings make any difference? Anki opens but all windows are blank - #17 by dae

I’ll look into it, but maybe the only solution is to never start in fullscreen, requirung the user to call it manually each time.

I’m guessing we’d need to exclude it at state saving time? Without other options available, this may be our best bet.
