Add-On for built-in SYNCSERVER: ONE laptop (server AND client), one phone (and nothing else) …?

Someone wanted to code an add-on; unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to have gotten much traction:

Anki add-on to run the syncserver locally?

So far, I’ve been 100% desktop; planning on also using AnkiDroid occasionally.

I absolutely cannot upload any of my data to third-party servers :frowning:

I’m more or less a non-nerd; but I had absolutely no problems installing/running ‘Learning With Texts’ back in the day …

Would be soooooo cool if there was an add-on/built-in function to simply switch the syncserver on/off …

Since I’m no network security wizard, I’d preferably use an ad-hoc WLAN without internet to avoid lurking hackers

Of course, I could export/import; i.e. constantly copy back and forth, to and fro …

In for a penny, in for a pound … after whetting our appetite for local sync, couldn’t it be made so that everyone can easily use it, not just NSA-certified hackers:wink:

Any help on the horizon?
