every time a word contains an accented letter (all scripts) or a capital letter (cyrillic only), the search engine fails to find the word if the letter is typed without that distinction. that is quite annoying.
is there an option to change that ?

There is an “Ignore accents in search” setting you can enable (Preferences > Editing > Browsing > Ignore accents in search). Otherwise:

Other characters such as Cyrillic are case sensitive in a standard search, but can be made case insensitive by searching on a word boundary or regular expression (
w:,re:).
Ignoring accents/combining characters
You can use
nc:(nc stands for “no combining”) to make Anki ignore combining characters.
