hello! I had an old laptop with all of my Anki decks, media and files. The laptop went kapoot, I download the old anki files from my ssd to my new laptop. Eveyrthing was going well, and I was able to get my decks working but the media was not playing, and will not even play on the anki web as well. I got the media files back but for some reason they are missing when i go to tools and check media, even though they are under the file name “collection.media.” Any help would be deeply appreciated.
- Are those files in a folder called
collection.media– with no subfolders? - Is that folder in the right location? Managing Files - Anki Manual
honestly this whole process is very confusing and I am lost. I have a file called “anki2” and there is a sub file called “collection.media” and inside the media folder there is a bunch of media. but when I had anki it said all of the files were missing. I am not the most pc literate person so yeah.
here is another pic

That’s not quite right.
Rather than trying you make your own Anki2 folder, have you tried using the one that already exists instead?
Wherever Anki is currently looking for your collection (see the link for the default location), there is already an Anki2 folder – and inside that, there is a folder with the name of your Profile – and inside that, there is a collection.media folder.
If you can’t find that, in Tools > Check Media, click “View Files.” Move your media to that folder, then run Tools > Check Media again.
Ok ok ok. I am kinda lost so ill explain. I have the folder called “anki2” inside the folder is user1 and then collection.media, inside that folder is all of the media. The problem I am having is that the media is missing and when I check media it says “Missing files: 22822, Unused files: 0 The following files are referenced by cards, but were not found in the media folder:. When i go to view files it says the folder is empty. I will move the files and see what happens
i fixed it! thanks!
How did you fix it?
