Render your Anki notes as Markdown with KaTeX math, matching the look of VSCode + Markdown Preview Enhanced (MPE). Built for people who write their homework / notes in Markdown and want to memorize them as flashcards.
# What it does
- Renders the Front/Back fields of a note as Markdown.
- Math is rendered with KaTeX — the same engine MPE uses — so inline ... and display $$…$$ formulas, \tag, \begin{cases}, \begin{pmatrix} and \begin{align} all look right.
- Supports Markdown headings, bold, quotes, lists, horizontal rules, GFM pipe tables (including math inside table cells), raw HTML (
, <div align=center>), and code blocks.
- No preview pane, no syntax highlighting — just faithful rendering of the Markdown you already have.
# Why it’s useful
If you keep your homework and solutions in Markdown (math proofs, etc.), you can put the question on the front and the solution on the back, then review them as cards. Formulas render exactly as they do in your editor.
# Install
1. Tools → Add-ons → Get Add-ons, and search for “mdmath” (or install from file using the .ankiaddon).
2. Restart Anki. A “mdmath” note type is created for you automatically; add notes with a Front (question) and Back (solution) field.
3. Rendering runs as pure front-end JS in the card template, so cards synced to AnkiDroid / AnkiMobile also render correctly.
# Customize
Tools → Add-ons → mdmath → Config lets you set font size, font family,
line height, text / background color, and page margins (separate values for
desktop and phone).
