IO: Polygon Tool Lines Alignment with the Dots

The polygon tool’s lines often don’t seem to have any proper alignment with where the dots are actually put. Example:

Noticed that before. IMO its better this way, as it lets you see where the actual point is, instead of having to eyeball the centre of the marker

The markers could be made transparent, but its not going to be very visible, especially on smaller screens

Sure, I get that. But I look at the dots to calibrate where exactly I should put the next one to get the shape I want. The exact points aren’t as important as the shape (FYI, most of the time I’m trying to get a decent looking rectangular shape). The way the feature currently works don’t exactly help, especially on a smaller screen.

There are other things that can be done though. Like allowing people to freely move a marker for finer adjustments.

IMO a black dot in the middle would help here, if you really want it.

Nope, transparent objects can only be clicked on their borders. So the first point would have to be non-transparent. Which is going to make it very hard to aim on mobile. Not to mention visually inconsistent

If the markers were on the points themselves, “exactly” is not what you would get when trying to place them (again, “eyeballing”). And fwiw, all the markers are offset in the same way

I was saying don’t have it transparent and instead have the lines overlay on top of the markers (like it is in my first image, over the red one, for some reason). The lines would start from the middle of markers (from a black dot) which means you can see where they’re starting from without having to have them transparent.

I thought Anki was randomly starting the polygon from wherever it wanted for the longest time :crying:

How would drawing the line over the marker make it better if the underlying image to be masked still isn’t visible?

Fair enough, it’s just not an issue for me. I guess just allowing users to move these markers would solve everyone’s issue.

Figured out how to overcome this, opened a pr
