Importing new notes to wrong deck in Anki 2.1.63

Ever since I upgraded to the latest version of Anki Desktop (2.1.63), there is a consistent bug with importing from a CSV file where all the new notes are added to the wrong deck. Here are the steps that produce the bug:

I currently have 7 decks:

  1. Mucholapka Ch 01-05
  2. Mucholapka Ch 06-10
  3. Mucholapka Ch 11
  4. Mucholapka Ch 12
  5. Mucholapka Ch 13
  6. Mucholapka Ch 14
  7. Slavna Patka

I am currently reading chapter 14 of the novel Mucholapka. When I try to import a CSV file with new notes containing words and their translations, the words consistently get imported into the deck “Mucholapka Ch 12” instead. In addition, when I browse the deck, these new notes are numbered nonsensically, with numbers up to five digits long. For example, when I browse the new new notes in “Mucholapka Ch 12”, they list the Due date as “New” #874, #2562, #3896, #4481
, #6925, #7410, #8410, #8779, #9723, #13156, and #13355.

As a workaround, I can move these notes back to the correct deck afterward manually, though the nonsensical Due date numbers persist.

Is there any way to fix this bug?

Your deck options are set to random order, which explains the due dates. I’d expect cards to be placed in the deck you select in the importing screen, unless you’re updating existing notes that were already in a different deck.

Thank you. You are correct. I see that the option in the import screen that is set by default to “Mucholapka Ch 12”, even if I opened the import screen from within a different deck.

The previous version of Anki I used (2.1.54) was set up so that if I open the import screen from within a particular deck, the notes would be by default imported to that deck. Is there a way to get this functionality in the latest version of Anki? Without it, I have to click on the deck that I want to import into twice.

I literally just downgraded from 2.1.61 because this annoyed me lol
Hope it can be fixed, I suppose it’s simple to fix

This should be fixed in the next update. In the mean time, if you’re importing regularly, you might want to include the deck name in the file: Importing - Anki Manual

Including the deck name in the file is a good solution for me, as I am importing on a nearly daily basis. Thank you!
