Good afternoon everyone, I have 2 suggestions for addons that I think would be great and would help a lot of people. If any developer makes them, that would be great, I thank you in advance.
Suggestion 1
addon that shows a text box and a button to search on Google in the editor and when you click on search, a Google browser opens inside the editor, next to the front and back cards to search for a subject more easily, without having to open an extra browser
note: it is not to open a new dialog box, it is to show the browser inside the editor
Suggestion 2
addon that shows some editor buttons on the review screen, so you wonāt have to click edit every time to edit the card you made a mistake, you wonāt have to open a new dialog box, saving a lot of time this way in the long run
I have already researched and tested the almost 1500 addons available on the addons website and unfortunately none of them meet what I want, which is why I was asking here.
Shige, thanks for the help, but none of them will serve my purpose
Explaining againā¦
Suggestion 1: I donāt want Google to open on the review screen and in a new dialog box, because it doesnāt do any good, itās the same as opening a Chrome browser
I wanted Google to appear inside the editor, next to the card Iām editing, without opening any extra dialog box
Suggestion 2: I donāt want a new edit dialog box to open next to the review, I wanted the buttons to edit to show inside the review screen, they donāt have to be all of them, just some of the ones in the editor
For suggestion 1, Qt 6.7 has support for embedding native windows:
But I donāt understand why you would want this? I think most operating systems has support for tiling windows. Thatās what I usually do; a PDF on one side of my monitor and Anki on another side.
In my case, itās for agility, to be quicker to fix a deck or to search on Google more quickly about a certain subject, so I donāt have to leave the window side by side.
I lose a few seconds with each card I try to edit, whether itās adding colors or searching to make new associations and improve the cards, so multiply that by 30 thousand cards that Iām constantly trying to improve, thatās a precious time that in the long run consumes a lot of time when I leave the screen split.
A few seconds on each card may not be significant for many people, but for me time is very valuable.
I see that I donāt have many options, unless I make an addon like that or someone tries to do it first, thanks anyway
The closest to suggestion 1 among the add-ons I have is AnkiTerminator, this add-on incorporates a sidebar in the reviewer and auto- sends the text in the field to ChatGPT.
There is already a request from a user to use this in the editor as well, so if I use the same mechanism it may be possible to incorporate it into the editor and search for it on Google. (For example, select text and right click to send to sidebar)
For now it is not possible to auto send to Google, but it is already possible to show Google in the reviewer by putting the URL in a custom URL.
About suggestion 2 I wasnāt sure exactly what you meant.
I do plan to customize my add-on Bulk Image Downloader to add the function to auto add images when the reviewer clicks on the button, for now this function is accessible via the More button in the reviewer. In the future I would like to be able to add audio, definitions, etc. in bulk.
Shige, your Terminator addon is amazing, chatgpt is really cool, but itās not what I wanted, because itās on the review screen.
I wanted one that would be on the editor screen, because thatās where the magic happens, because when Iām making the cards I would search for my questions there. If you can do it, Iād be grateful in advance. In this case, it would be Google.
It would be in the same style as Terminator, but in the editor and in this case it would be the Google website, not chatgpt.
Now the second suggestion, this one would be on the review screen, there would be some buttons at the top of the review card, so if I need to make a word bold, for example, I would just select the word and click on the button, or if I wanted to highlight it, I would click on the highlight button and so on.
