Hello,
Is it possible to contact a user, privately or through the forum, about his post that is now closed? Being new to this forum I am still learning to move around in it. There is a particular post I am interested in and the answer was not conclusive, at least to my reading of it, and I would like to discuss it further, most probably with the initial poster.
I know his UserName from the post, but could not find a way of contacting him/her.

You can click on any user name and choose „Message“.
IIRC PMs are restricted when you are brand new to the forum. But you should bump up to the next trust level pretty quickly.
Get to trust level 1 by…
- Entering at least 5 topics
- Reading at least 30 posts
- Spend a total of 10 minutes reading posts
Users at trust level 1 can…
- Use all core Discourse functions; all new user restrictions are removed
- Send PMs
- …
