Recently there has been a rise of AI scrapers overloading open source infrastructures and causing headaches for foss admins, was wondering if Anki needs an Anti AI on shared decks
As for whether anki would benefit, I would assume probably not? the ankiās homepage isnāt exactly changing often enough for a scraper to care to keep scraping (the author said it was their personal git server that was being scraped, which would be changed enough to cause a lot of scrapes)
maybe ankiweb deck lists are getting overly scrapped? but the original authorās complaint was not about bandwidth, but that all the connections were causing crashes
I canāt think of a time ankiweb crashed so I would assume it has no real need of something like anubis, and āInstalling and using this will likely result in your website not being indexed by some search engines. This is considered a feature of Anubis, not a bug.ā (GitHub - TecharoHQ/anubis: Weighs the soul of incoming HTTP requests using proof-of-work to stop AI crawlers) is kinda a non-starter for a lot of things like anki.
