Anki no longer syncing on opening

Anki no longer automatically syncs on profile open it only automatically syncs on profile close. When I open the app, the sync button is blue indicating that a normal sync is available but it does not sync automatically. I confirmed that I am signed into Ankiweb and I made sure that the box “Automatically sync on profile open/close” is checked. Would love any suggestions to fix the issue! Thanks in advance.

That almost sounds like you’re opening in safe mode – which you would usually do by holding down Shift while starting.

  • Do you have any add-ons that might be interfering with syncing?
  • Is your computer connected to a stable internet connection when you start Anki?
  • Can you try running Anki through the anki-console.bat file to see if there are any errors? Startup Issues - Anki Manual

Thanks for your response! I appreciate your help. I have a stable internet connection and am not pressing shift when starting. I do have the AnkiHub add-on installed which I know has its own syncing functionality. I did find the message
addons21/1322529746/entry_point.py:289:save() is deprecated: saving is automatic
which is the AnkiHub add on. I’m not sure if this is related given that when I start Anki through the console I notice that the sequence for Ankiweb syncing occurs prior to Ankihub sync checks. After starting the main loop,

maybe_auto_sync_on_open_close called
Calling _on_profile_did_open.
No data to migrate.

I am not familiar with the code governing Anki’s boot sequence but if “no data to migrate” results in no sync occurring I think this may indicate an issue. I reviewed a few cards on a separate device prior to booting anki in the console so I knew that a sync should be required and did not occur upon opening the application.

Disregard my previous message. After disabling the AnkiHub add-on a Collection sync occurs everytime after opening. Interestingly, this error only appears to occur on apple silicon based computers and anki with Ankihub installed on intel based MacBooks functions normally. I will let the AnkiHub team know this error is occurring. Appreciate your help.
