Anki multi-user paradigm on the web

Anki is for the single, individual user, extremely difficult to use in settings such as schools which need a group model. I’ve tried to raise the issue but asking a question from the developer perspective.

Could Anki not be compiled to run on the web without major modifications to the code through use of tools such as PyScript, Qt for WebAssembly, Rust and WebAssembly and SQL.js?

It would require extensive changes.

Not considering looking into a web, or multi-user model is a terrible loss. Incorporting in school systems could catapult Anki’s adoption thousands of times over, but it’s a different model and well worth looking into.

I must say it would be a great chance to do as closed source service. And would be a nice business model.

There are some services like this, but not “nerd stuff” like anki. Anki does provide API to see stuff like “leadership” add-on, but managed for school.

One last thing: here in Brazil, some old users are using the anki backend architecture to sell the service with decks for Medicine. Exactly as purposed.

There are already numerous niche commercial educational sites with Spaced Repetition. I was thinking along more universal lines: Open Source at the core giving rise to a continually growing commecial marketplace such as WordPress with its marketplace for themes and extensions.
