Anki crashes because of youtube embed (due to blocked yt)

heya there  hope someone has a smart idea on how to fix this

problem: anki goes blank screen unresponsive on cards with embedded youtube links, / directory also suddenly balloons rapidly (this reverts after force killing it)

how to recreate: block youtube (redirect to 127.0.0.1 or similar), then review or browse card with embedded link (see below)

ideal solution?: stop anki from crashing, by nondestructively disabling/turning off the vids without unblocking youtube, (I don’t need to watch or see the videos on the cards right now, but it would be nice if I could somehow toggle them without removing the field or otherwise annoyingly butchering a lot of cards (~300/500)

extra info: i’m blocking youtube among others by adding β€œ125.0.0.1 youtube.com” to my /etc/hosts and dnsmasq.conf β€œserver=.youtube.com/1.1.1.1”, by undoing these two things I can stop the freezing obviously

Perhaps instead of just blocking YouTube, redirect these requests to a tiny web server running on your system that actually returns something lIke a blank HTML page or a 404 response?
