# Wrong numbering

Hello everyone,

when I create new cards, they are not saved as 1., 2, or 3. card, but sometimes as 17508 card, although I don’t have so many cards. This wrong numbering is quite confusing while learning the cards. How can I change this? (see picture)

Browse \> Select cards \> Cards \> Reposition.

Also, in deck options, you should set “Insertion order” to sequential (oldest cards first)

Tools\>Check Database will update Anki’s idea of the next number to use when adding new cards.
