Their solution adds a margin to the left which causes the content to shrink horizontally when the scrollbar appears.
Btw, I just noticed that the AnkiDroid card browser displays the scrollbar as an overlay (i.e. it doesn’t shift the columns to the left), and it disappears after a few seconds of not touching the screen.
