Telling the app how much I know each card

Hello.

Recently I’ve had some issues with my laptop, and unfortunately it stopped working, so I’ve lost my 500 days streak. Fortunately I had saved my decks on a could, so I can backup them on another computer and start again to learn on another computer. But is there a way to tell to the software how much I know each card, in order not to start being tested on each card again ?

Losing your streak is beside the point – did you lose your collection?

  • Is your hard drive completely inaccessible? Even if it won’t run the operating system, you still might be able to recover files.
  • Were you syncing your collection with AnkiWeb or any other devices?
  • What exactly did you have saved elsewhere that you’re restoring from? If it’s a regular backup, you’ll have all of your progress in those decks.

Thank You, in fact I hardly managed to recover files so everything is solved. In fact I didn’t save anything online so without finding these files there would have nothing to do.

Even if you don’t need to sync your collection to any other devices, you should consider syncing with AnkiWeb, so you have an emergency backup in case of device failure. Before you do that, run Check Database and Check Media (and delete unused media) to clean up your collection.
