I opened Anki after a few months of non-use. Less than six, so my account should not have been deleted. It did require me to log in again, but the fact that succeeded showed the account was still there.
When I tried to sync, it said the collection was empty and offered to upload from local. When I agreed, it finished instantaneously. Too fast for my 212MB profile.
Your account passed the 6-month mark last week and your data on the server was deleted. But it sounds like you had a current version of your collection on your computer, so uploading it was the right way to restore your account and resume syncing.
I don’t know what makes you think your collection is 212 MB, but you only wait for the collection-database portion of the sync. If you have a lot of media, that will sync gradually in the background.
[Now would be a good time to clean up unused media that you don’t need to restore to the server. Check Database > Delete Unused Media]
