Sync from anki desktop to web accidentally overwrote all web decks

I accidentally overwrote my AnkiWeb collection when I synced from desktop to AnkiWeb. All my previous decks on AnkiWeb are now gone.

AnkiWeb email: id rather not share publically could you give me an email adress i can send it to?

Approximate time of bad sync: thursday 17 September, between 20:00 and 20:14

Please restore the most recent backup from before this sync. I understand this will overwrite my current AnkiWeb collection.

  • Were you syncing your desktop Anki with your AnkiWeb account for the first time?

  • Did you have separate collections on desktop Anki and AnkiWeb?

If it’s something other than the address you used to post here – please add it to your account here as a secondary/alternate address. Forums staff will be able to see that.

i’m not sure if it is the first time ive synced, since i’ve had the account dor a while, but i think so given that my anki desktop was completely empty.

i did have a collection on anki web

Server-side backups are made much less frequently than local device backups (which happen automatically when you have an app installed on your device) – so you don’t get a lot of choice in what gets restored.

The most recent server-side backup of your account was actually made on 17 September, but I don’t know what time zone your times are in, so you’ll have to figure out if that was before or after the mis-sync.

Please confirm which backup you want me to restore to your account.

I restored that to your account. On your next sync be sure you choose download from AnkiWeb. This will overwrite your local collection.
