And I would like to split that deck in a specific way :
500 notes, fixed note order (same everywhere)
5 card templates total, RegIrregVerb excluded
Templates used: Verbo, Imagen, Spelling, Audio
Each template split into 5 decks of 100 notes Same notes across templates for each range (e.g. notes 1–100 are identical in Verbo / Imagen / Spelling / Audio)
Spanish Verbs::Verbo::001-100
Spanish Verbs::Imagen::001-100
etc.
it works great its just when it splits the deck it automatically put all the types to that deck even if they were separated before, I have tried filtered deck and deck override, and nothing works… Why such simple task is not doable in Anki?? Or what am I doing wrong here? I do not want to do this manually because I would like to find a way to do it automatically so in the future i can do that with the bigger deck.
It’s possible, though the utility of this is questionable…
Make the subdecks manually.
Open the main deck in the browser.
Search for card:Verbo.
Select the first hundred and move them to Spanish Verbs::Verbo::001-100.
Repeat with the other card types and note ranges.
Edit: oh, I didn’t read properly. Yes, you have to do this manually. Such a feature will be useless to 99% of users, in fact you should consider using tags instead, and divide the cards into the 4 (or 5?) subdecks based on their card type.
Ye i have tried tags too but i dont know whether I am doing something wrong or its just Anki is … well limited… but everytime i try to select cards, and add a tag it adds tag to all the cards not just the cards i selected… Don’t get me wrong i dont mind doing it manually but if there is a way to do it efficiently instead of kinda fully manually separating them because as i mentioned before in future i would like to do it with much bigger decks, so if this is the only way then anki is absolutely pointless and I might as well do pen and paper flashcard
Edit: Perhaps there is a way ( with or without addon ) to kinda sort the cards or rather change their sequence?
So for instance it will display the “Verbo” first then “Image” and so on
A note has a sequence, while cards have only a specific type, and even then, not forever. When you know one card well and another less, the one you don’t know will be shown more often. If you always need to show cards in a specific order, then you should do it on a single card. But this is also wrong, as the card will be complex. A complex card should be broken down into simpler ones so that the algorithm identifies the specific part you don’t know and doesn’t show you everything else.
I see different types of cards, meaning recognition first, then the final spelling. There’s no need to learn this sequentially. In reality, you need to rework the types; you should both hear and see the spelling, and perhaps even the picture—all together, it stimulates the neurons in your head more and promotes better memorization. Sometimes, you don’t even need to learn the spelling right away. Even if you spread the card types across subdecks, when you go through them separately, you’ll still lag somewhere, and there’s no point in learning them sequentially. So, if you consistently say a foreign word 100 times, will you remember it better than if you say it 3 times, then after a while another 3 times, and so on?
