Request to restore recently deleted media from AnkiWeb

  1. My media was present a few days ago.
  2. You use a laptop, phone, and work virtual desktop with anki downloaded on it.
  3. The work VDI experienced sync errors and now has a corrupted SQLite database (database disk image is malformed).
  4. The media subsequently disappeared from all synced devices.
  5. Check Media reports the files are missing on all devices.
  6. I wonder if the Anki staff can restore recently deleted media on the server side.
  7. This issue started in the past few days

I’m looking at the AnkiWeb account connected to the email address you used to post here. There’s over 6 GB of media in your account, and nothing has been deleted recently. I’ll also note that the media is not stored in the database file, so database corruption shouldn’t have impacted it at all.

If the media is missing on all of your devices, I wonder if you’re looking at a different profile than the one you ordinarily use. Or at a profile that syncs with a different AnkiWeb account.

In addition to repairing your database, or restoring from a backup made prior to the corruption – you can force a re-scan of the media by logging out of AnkiWeb in Preferences > Syncing, and then clicking Sync to log in again.
