I am interested in making my first anki addon. Recently I have learned a lot about great notetypes for learning different kinds of knowlegde, but the current implementation of managing them in Anki seems a bit clunky. My initial idea is to create note types manager addon, but I would like to know if something like that already exist. I am thinking about making notes with varying notetypes much easier e.g. option to limit note types for a given deck to few selected, adding keyboard shortcuts for switching.
I searched the web for something similiar using phrases like “anki addon note types manager”, but my search results did not show any addon that look like something I have in mind. Do you know any addon that is implementing at least a similiar idea?
If there is no such addon, I will start a work addon on my own, so you can share a suggestion or two about what would be useful to implement in the addon like that.

There is a note type. A single note can contain multiple card types. All card types within a single note share the same CSS. We view the cards, not the notes.
So, what unique thing will your add-on do that isn’t currently possible in the browser? If you explain that, it might become clear. Or you don’t have to explain it—just build the add-on and figure things out as you go; then, in the add-on’s description, you can detail exactly what makes it unique and why it’s better.
I was talking about managing the note types in the card creation, not the browser. Right now, when you want to change a note type for newly created note, you have to click a button and select a note type from ALL the notetypes defined in your profile. If u have more note types than few, it becomes clunky to change it, especially if you make flashcards from the material containing different types of knowledge.
Example: let’s say you are learning French. You are reading a book and note anything you want to memorize, but it contains nouns, verbs, adpositions, gramatical rules etc. Instead of having all-in-one note type, you have different note types that generates different cards specific to a type of knowledge e.g. note type “French Noun” has a field for gramatical gender, that helps to generate card asking only about the gramatical gender of a given noun. But you also have diffrent decks with their gimmicks and specific note types, that do not applie to French. So clicking each time a right note types takes time to find a note type you want.
The idea of the addon is to make it as frictionless as possible. I am interested in that because right now I have all-in-one note type I am using, but I know it falls short for learning some specific areas, especially language learning. I discovered that selecting note type is the biggest bottleneck for me to implement new approach.

Feel free to set it up however works best for you, and we can take a look later. However, since most people use standard types, it’s likely not something everyone will need.
I wouldn’t want to have a huge number of note types, though I do have around 120 myself. To select them quickly, you need to name them in a way that allows for fast filtering. Of course, it would be great if the system remembered previously selected types and displayed them at the top of the list.
