# My anki will not open after installation (windows 10)

Yesterday (11th January 2023) I launched anki and it said if I wanted to update to the latest version. I clicked yes, followed the steps to uninstall it, then went to the anki website to download the newest version.

Everything works up until the point where I open anki. It will appear in my task manager for a second and then disappear. I’ve tried downloading different versions but nothing will work

I fixed this issue by downloading anki onto my hard drive rather than my m.2 drive. I don’t know why this worked but it’s something to try if you hit the same problem.
