hello
my anki inclusion cards are Turning into cloze cards without me even changing anything (the cards work for a couple of times and then they just change) has anyone had this problem before and knows how to solve it.

I think you mean image occlusion? Do you use an add-on for that or the built-in feature?

yeah image occlusion sorry and I think it was an add on.
the first screenshot is what always shows and the second is what options I have when adding new cards. I have tried the empty card tool but that didn’t change anything

Ah, I see now what you mean.
Are you using the “Image Occlusion Enhanced” note type from the second screenshot (when you add new notes)? I suspect you are using the built-in note type because the add-on doesn’t have multiple cards in one note.

no I always use the normal one not the enhanced, what I think is the problem is that I am editing by adding new boxes to cover things or group some cards together and this is then messing up the cards in some way. could this be the case

Yes, you’re right. Let’s say you have 5 masks in one IO note. They are going to be c1, c2, c3, c4, c5 cards. If you group some of them together, then the extra cards will remain empty because now you only might have c1, c2, c3 (c3 now includes 3 masks let’s say). In this case, c4 and c5 cards become empty.
Also, you’re using the built-in IO, not IOE which is from some add-on.

If you have less masks then before, you’ll surely have less cards than before so you can’t avoid it in that scenario. You will end up with cards that Anki previously created but are now empty. Just use the “Empty cards” tool when that happens.
If you can do anything it’s not putting too many masks and then deleting/grouping them later.
Other than that, look at this conversation about something related:
