Yes, the issue I mentioned has been discussed on GitHub, and the developers are aware of it. A possible fix has already been proposed and accepted, but it hasn’t been officially released yet because no new version of Anki has been released since.
If you’d like to revert to a version of Anki prior to 25.09.2, I suggest trying 25.09 (which may be the latest version without the image delay).
Regarding AnkiDroid: Anki Desktop and AnkiDroid nowadays share a lot of code, so it’s theoretically possible that the issue stems from the same source (which could also mean that once the issue is fixed on Anki Desktop, it will also be fixed on AnkiDroid). That said, I don’t know AnkiDroid very well, so don’t take my word for it.
