I suggest:

1. going to the tools → preferences and uncheck the option to show next time intervals above answer buttons.
2. Then click on the gear to the right of a deck, scroll down and enable FSRS.
3. Trust the algorithm.

To answer your questions, Anki is an SRS app. That means that you:

1. Open Anki _every day_.
2. Clicking on the decks to study.
3. See the question.
4. Try to recall the answer.
5. Reveal the answer.
6. Grade yourself.
  - **Again** means that you have failed to recall the answer or recalled incorrectly. The other three buttons are _pass_ grades. Normally, you press **Good** if you answered correctly. **Hard** is when you struggled with the answer or took longer than expected. **Easy** is for when it was really easy.

7. Rinse and repeat until you see the congratulations screen.

Anki handles when you’ll see the cards again. It uses a smart algorithm (FSRS) to schedule cards to make sure you remember them in the long term.
