How to remove first column and not lose updating abilities when importing with csv

I keep an CSV file with all the new words I learn in Japanese. I used the first column to write the furigana in roman letters (because in the beginning I wasn’t very good at reading furigana). I don’t need it anymore and writing it out has become a nuisance.

The problem is that when I don’t fill in the first column, the notes are not imported.

Do I delete the entire first column? But then all new notes of old words will be created if I import the list again? And old notes will not be updated if I make changes to it?

Export your existing notes as plain text – including a unique identifier, so you don’t get stuck in this situation again – and start using that as your CSV.
