How to remove duplicate entries in browse window

I am using AnkiVersion
⁨25.09.2 (3890e12c)⁩
Python 3.13.5 Qt 6.9.1 Chromium 122

I imported into an existing deck, an Excel .csv file.
Unfortunately I did this twice, and now have hundreds of duplicates.
All note types are basic (and reversed card).
I went to the relevant deck,
clicked Browse,
clicked Notes
clicked Notes in the Anki pulldown menu,
clicked Find duplicates…
Search in: defaults to [1] which I presume is column 1ie, the sort field. That is the correct column I presume. None of the other options made sense.
Optional filter shows nothing and there is nothing in the pulldown menu.
clicked Search

Result was “Found ⁨⁨0⁩ groups⁩ across ⁨⁨0⁩ notes”⁩.

PLease advise what I am to do now, as I do not relish manually removing 500-odd duplications manually. I looked in the manual but it didn’t make much sense. At wit’s end.

Just as a side note, I looked in backups but no luck.

That “[1]” should probably be "deck:deck name". See the manual for reference.

That’s probably a name of a Field in some other Note Type you have in your collection. (You might have imported it with some shared deck, for example, and it can persist even if you delete all the cards that used to use it). If your basic (and reversed card) is the unmodified default Note Type, it should have fields named Front and Back. In that case, just select Front in the “Search in:” dropdown.

(that’s for the optional filter parameter, not the “Search in:”, which should specify a Field)

Alternatively, you can always just sort Notes by their creation date in the browser and delete the latter half of them. Or even delete all and reimport your csv, if you haven’t started learning them yet.

Are you sure you have duplicates? Are you looking at “Cards” mode – which shows you each card on a separate line – or “Notes” mode? Browsing - Anki Manual
