# Embedding Vimeo videos into anki

Hello,

I have been having trouble embedding Vimeo videos into my anki cards. Every time I embed a Vimeo video I get a white screen and can just hear the audio. I don’t have problems viewing the videos on ankiweb. It seems to be an issue with the desktop version. I have attached a screen shot of the error I get and the screen after I click through the error. I suspect it has to do with H.264 not being supported on desktop. Any chances this will be changed at some point?

Anki needs to do a [custom build of Qt](https://doc.qt.io/qt-6/qtwebengine-features.html#audio-and-video-codecs) for that, and there are licensing issues, so unlikely I think.

It is very difficult to get a license to use H.264 in Qt, perhaps a lawyer needs to be hired and Qt needs to be rebuilt for each release. But this license is only needed for distribution, so it would be possible if developers build and activate QtWebEngine themselves, some of the apps that use Qt have users enable mp4 themselves in such a way. (I don’t know exactly how to do it.)
