Data Fields Change For All Decks

Why is it impossible to create an Anki deck with two Basic optional reversed cards (or any other card type) each with different data fields for the “Question”, “Answer”, “Extra”, and so on?

Example:

Front: What is the capital of France?

Back: Paris

Fun Fact: Eiffel Tower

Here my new data field “Fun Fact” cannot be kept to the Geography deck and deleting this field in the French deck where it is not needed will change all the cards.

My only solution so far is to use Anki on different devices.

Why is this a problem?
Why is this a problem only for notes I add to a deck and not imported cards?
What is the solution?

When you add a field, you’re changing the note type – Getting Started - Anki Manual . That change affects all notes that use that note type. If you want to only affect some of the notes, you need to switch them to a different note type (perhaps by cloning the existing note type) and make the change there.

How is this handled when importing a note type/card type which may have different fields but the same name for that type?

I think limiting it to just that deck is a good feature.

The name alone isn’t enough for note types to be considered identical. If they aren’t exactly the same, depending on what the user chooses, the note type might be duplicated (and given a different name), or merged.

Notes and note types have no relationship to decks. Decks hold cards (and other decks), but the cards made from a note can be in a single deck or multiple decks.
