I am able to reproduce the behavior. The Command-M keyboard shortcut does nothing when the Browse window is in front, on the Mac desktop Anki app. I was using Anki version 26.05.

I’m not sure whether it might be possible to use third-party utilities (something like BetterTouchTool) to work around the issue.

I note that there are a number of other situations where Anki app window behavior is strange (when compared to other Mac apps). For example, the Anki \> Preferences and Anki \> About Anki… items appear in the menu only when the main Anki window is in front. They don’t appear when other windows are in front, for example the Browse window.

That doesn’t sound that unexpected, given the different status of the windows within the app – i.e. the Browse window depends on the main window, but can be used alongside the main window. Other windows that have a similar status are Add Note and Stats – I wonder if they behave the same?

I also wonder what `Option-Command-M` does with those windows:

> **Command-M** : Minimize the front window to the Dock. To minimize all windows of the front app, press Option-Command-M.
> [Mac keyboard shortcuts - Apple Support](https://support.apple.com/en-us/102650#:~:text=To%20minimize%20all%20windows)

[To be clear, I’m not suggesting the current behavior is “expected behavior” in the “it’s not a bug” sense. I don’t really know how windows like Anki’s _should_ behave in macOS.]

On macOS, pressing `Cmd+M` (`⌘M`) is the standard system shortcut to minimize the focused window. In the Anki macOS app, `Cmd+M` minimizes the main deck list window as expected, but it does not work in key secondary windows such as **Add Cards** and **Browse** (Card Browser).

**Steps to Reproduce:**

1. Open Anki on macOS.
2. From the main deck overview window, press `Cmd+M`. The window minimizes to the Dock.
3. Restore Anki and open the **Browse** window (`B`) or the **Add** window (`A`).
4. Ensure the Add or Browse window has focus and press `Cmd+M`.

**Expected Behavior:**

Consistent with standard macOS window behavior and the main Anki window, pressing `Cmd+M` should minimize the active Add or Browse window to the Dock.

**Actual Behavior:**

The shortcut is ignored or unhandled, and the window remains open on screen.

minimizing those windows is actually possible through the traffic light buttons but the keyboard shortcuts don’t work.

This behavior was previously noted in: [Command m not working in the browser window [minimize on macOS]](https://forums.ankiweb.net/t/command-m-not-working-in-the-browser-window-minimize-on-macos/70176)

I confirm that the behavior is still present with macOS Golden Gate 27.0, Anki 26.09.2.

Yep, shortcuts don’t work for the Browser or Editor window.
Would be nice if all windows could be controlled by keyboard shortcuts.
