When opening Anki today, I was asked if I wanted to update to Anki 26.9. I said Yes and the Terminal opened on my Mac running MacOS 26.6.2. The Terminal opened and asked if I wanted to continue with the update, as well as the other options. I hit Enter to continue the update and received this error: > Checking for updates… > > Updating Anki… > > × No solution found when resolving dependencies for split > > │ (python\_full\_version \>= ‘3.10’): > > ╰─▶ Because there is no version of anki-release==26.9 and your project > > ``` > depends on anki-release==26.9, we can conclude that your project's > > requirements are unsatisfiable. > > ``` > > Install failed: Failed to run (1): /Applications/Anki.app/Contents/MacOS/uv sync --upgrade --no-config --managed-python --python 3.13.5 > > Error: Failed to run (1): /Applications/Anki.app/Contents/MacOS/uv sync --upgrade --no-config --managed-python --python 3.13.5 Now, when I try to open Anki, the Terminal immediately opens. And I’m presented with the same options. I’ve tried the next option of choosing a version and selecting 26.09 and that produces the same error. Anki seems to be uninstalled. So, now do I just download and install from the web site? ---

You need to manually download and install the latest version if you’re on 25.09.4 and older versions: [https://apps.ankiweb.net/](https://apps.ankiweb.net/) Your existing installation should be automatically replaced. @williammartinez20087 @benes680 What was your existing version before the upgrade? Try uninstalling Anki normally from Windows settings then check if the installation folder still exists (`C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Programs\Anki` by default), if so delete it manually then download the new version from [https://apps.ankiweb.net/](https://apps.ankiweb.net/) ---

It looks like you had an old Anki installation (25.02) that didn’t get completely replaced by the new version. Try uninstalling Anki normally from Windows settings then check if the installation folder still exists (`C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Programs\Anki` by default), if so delete it manually then download the new version from [https://apps.ankiweb.net/](https://apps.ankiweb.net/) ---

Everything I see in the forum says that problems with updating to the latest version were resolved in June. I did not receive a prompt to update back then, but I did receive such a prompt today Sept 14, 2026, and got the message copied below. Apparently now I also cannot use the old version either. I have a MacBook Air M5 running Tahoe 26.6.2. I can use existing flashcards that I synchronized earlier on my iphone, but I’ve always created new cards on my laptop. I was recently prompted to download the most recent version of anki and when i did there seemed to be an error when launching it so I responded by uninstalling it and re-installing anki for windows 10+. I tried this (MacOS), but now I can’t open the reinstalled app. There’s a big white X over it and I get an error saying that this application is not supported on this Mac. Do you know how I can solve this? ---
