Cannot find imported cards

One day half of my cards from my Milesdown Anki deck disappeared, the folders and all the cards were gone. I assume this is due to inactivity. So I imported the file again, the folders show up but 0 cards (figure 1). When I go to browse, it says 0 cards available (Figure 2). When I go to my suspended or buried folder, both are empty. When I import the file, it says that the cards are already in my collection. If I click show, only then does it show me the cards in the Kaplan Biology folder, not in the subfolders (figure 3, 4). However, if I click off the Kaplan Biology folder and then click back on it, none of the cards are there and it looks like figure 5 (the only reason those cards are there is because I did these cards before some of mine were removed due to inactivity). I created a new profile and uploaded the file and everything uploaded fine, so I do not think it is an issue with the anki file itself. I am only missing some chapters but I have a lot of progress with the deck so far and I do not want to lose it by switching to the other profile where I am able to upload the cards.

I have tried: 1) increasing the scheduled cards for both the parent deck, folders, and subfolders, 2) searching in my buried and suspended, 3) deleting and importing again, and 4) trying to go back to an older cloud updated version of my anki.

Can anyone help me find these cards?? I know they are on my account somewhere but IDK where.

Your local collection on your device will never be deleted for that reason. I assume you’re talking about the AnkiWeb data removal policy – but if it was only certain decks/notes/cards, and it was on your local device, it wasn’t that.

You’ve already imported those notes (not cards) – as the message says – so their cards have already been created in certain decks.

There’s a good chance nothing suddenly “disappeared.” It’s more likely that those cards were never in this deck structure to begin with, because they already existed somewhere else. Importing another version of the deck/notes doesn’t move the cards around. They stay where they were originally created.

You can see from the “Deck” column in your screenshots which subdeck each of those cards is in. Fig. 4 shows the cards made from the previously imported notes, regardless of what deck they are in. Do you have a top-level deck called MCAT: Milesdown? Fig. 5 shows you’re looking under a different top-level deck called MileDown Kaplan <3. If you can’t see that correct deck in your list, run Tools > Check Database and see if it pops up again.
