Hello, I was wondering what is the best settings to use for vet school. We are currently on a block schedule so we have 3-7 week blocks. I have heard great things about FSRS, but it is often pushing my cards out MONTHS in advance and with my final exams being before that I get worried if this is still adequate recall. What is your suggestion? Thanks!
The best approach is usually to make sure your FSRS is configured as accurately is possible and working with the best data –
-
Are your parameters well-optimized across a significant amount of review history?
-
Do you re-optimize your parameters monthly?
-
Is your Desired Retention (DR) set in alignment with your learning goals?
-
Do you study your cards when they are due?
-
Do you grade your cards honestly and accurately, and use the grading buttons correctly?
-
Do you have an excess of grades in Learn/Relearn – which could come from having too many re/learning steps, or hitting Again repeatedly without actually re/learning the material?
Once you get past those hurdles, you have to consider whether that new due date is the right due date for that card. Anki doesn’t want you to waste time studying cards that don’t need your attention, when you should be spending that time on cards that you’re struggling with.
If you want more specific advice about this, you should show us
- your
Stats[Save PDFand post that whole thing here] - your paramters as text
- a screenshot of your Options
- a screenshot of the Card Info for any specific card you think has an issue.
It’s hard to tell much from the Stats without context. You need to include the other things I asked for too.
After considering the list of things (1-6) I posted first, if you have any additional perspective to offer, that would help too.
Here are those
