# Anki file size exceeding contents making sync impossible

I have tried syncing to Ankidroid for ages, and realised that the reason I cannot is because the file size is too big. However, to check this I exported my anki profile on my desktop and it gives a size well into the hundreds of GB to the point that my computer had no more storage, which makes little sense to me as the combined apkg files size when exported individually is 200mb. Please help as this has resulted in my being unable to use the app as I used to in my routine.

Does using **Tools \> Check Media** to remove unused media files help?

Please make sure you are exporting your collection to somewhere like your desktop. Previous Anki versions would get stuck creating a giant file if you tried to export your collection to the collection’s media folder.
