Anki fails to start - black screen

I’ve been using Anki for 50 years. Today, for the first time, Anki failed to launch.

Instead, it presented a black screen, which looked similar to the old DOS console, but without the “A” prompt:

I restarted my Dell twice. Same error.

I would be grateful for any advice.

You’re probably using Anki 25.07.x. You can download the latest release from the website and it’ll automatically replace your existing installation: https://apps.ankiweb.net/
