# Anki does not sync on mobile and iPad

My sync will not complete on my iPad or iPhone Anki app. I downloaded the Anking deck for step and then all this started. I deleted the Anking deck but this problem has persisted. It has the loading button for syncing but the loading never ends. It has been 30 + minutes.

After you deleted the deck, did you also [use Check Media](https://docs.ankiweb.net/media.html) to delete the (now) unused media files? If not, Anki is still trying to sync them. If it’s a lot of data, or particularly large files, that’s probably what is causing the timeouts.

You’ve still got a lot of media files in your AnkiWeb collection, which is going to be problematic for initial setup if your connection to AnkiWeb is currently unreliable. If you’re still having trouble, you can bootstrap the process by transferring all the media files over to your device manually: [Collection Transfer - AnkiMobile Manual](https://docs.ankimobile.net/collection-transfer.html)
