Like the title says anki closes immediately after opening, and keeps reopening and closing indefinitely. As soon at it opens opera browser and adobe pdf reader will close as well, and reopen when anki closes. While this is happening anki is always present on the task manager and this loop only ends when i stop anki in there. I once deleted everything anki related except my backups from my computer and installed anki again and it worked 1 time, the next time i tried using anki it happened again. I’ve already tried everything on the troubleshooting guide, and startup issues, and i’ve tried an older version of anki too. I’m really getting desperate. I’m on windows 11
That doesn’t sound like something Anki would have any control over, so I wonder if this is something your OS is doing. Perhaps your system resources are being overtaxed.
- Did you update your Anki version and this started happening immediately? Or has it been working fine before today?
- What else has changed on your computer since the last time you used Anki? Any Windows updates, major settings changes, or new 3rd-party software installed?
- When you say you’ve “tried everything on the troubleshooting guide” – does that include #5 restart? Try starting up your computer and don’t open any other apps, then open Anki in safe mode – see #2, Troubleshooting - Anki Manual .

1- I can’t exactly be sure when it started, i believe it was after an update but again i can’t be 100% sure. Deleting everything anki related from my computer and re-installing anki worked once and then it started happening again, so i at least used the most recent version of anki once.
2- I don’t recall anything on my computer changing except the bluetooth driver going kaput.
3- I tried it previously and it didn’t work, but just now it did, i synched my collection and it’s still open, i have to see if after it syncs all media it stays open
