my AnkiWeb account appears to have expired due to the “Account Expiry” policy, and unfortunately my data is no longer available on AnkiWeb.
I would like to ask if it is possible to restore my account and, most importantly, recover my previously stored data and synchronization data.
I was still actively using the account and would be very grateful if you could check whether my account and data can be restored.
My account details:
AnkiWeb username/email: [denizyesz@icloud]
Thank you very much for your help and for looking into my issue. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide in recovering my account and data.
Yes, the data was removed from your account in May 2025, after it had been inactive for at least 6 months. We delete the data from accounts in our system that aren’t being used for syncing or studying, so AnkiWeb isn’t suitable for long-term storage of your inactive collection – AnkiWeb account removal - Anki FAQs .
However that policy only affects the data on our servers. If you still have a local copy of your collection on any devices where you used Anki / AnkiMobile / AnkiDroid, you can upload your collection to AnkiWeb and resume syncing.
Server-side backups are made much less frequently than local backups, and they not kept as long. When you reactivated your account in February 2026, that restarted the periodic cycle of backup/removal, so any backups from 2025 are gone now. While you reactivated your account then, it doesn’t look like you re-synced your collection to the server.
Are you sure this is the AnkiWeb account you were actively using?
